Reasons why RIP is inefficient than OSPF

The routing table is broadcast instead of just the changes which can result in large and often multiple packets.
There is a maximum of 25 entries per RIP packet.

Link state systems reach 'convergence' more quickly.
The routing table is broadcast at regular intervals.
It is broadcast at every 30 seconds.
This results in considerable network traffic.
